MUJAHID AZFAR

PhD Student

Mujahid Azfar is a molecular and cell biology PhD student at KU Leuven where he researches ATP13A3 and its potential link to Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension.

Being trilingual, having lived in four different countries in both Europe and the Middle East, Mujahid thrives in multicultural environments. He did his Bachelors in Natural Science focusing on Molecular Biology and Chemistry and also partook in entrepreneurship activities. He then did a masters in Biomedical Sciences at KU Leuven during which he did his master thesis, on ATP13A3, here at the LCTS.

 

Being passionate about learning how the pharmaceutical industry works, following his graduation he joined our drug discovery task force in an international project with major pharmaceutical companies. In order to pursue a career in pharmaceutical R&D, he has now set out on establishing himself as a scientist by pursuing a PhD at LCTS in collaboration with a lab at University of Cambridge. He is a holder of the FWO SB personal fellowship grant.


Outside of work Mujahid plays, performs and records rock music. He is also a photographer.
